The Marshall Plan for Adult Literacy

In 5th century B.C.E, Thucydides wrote about how protracted war and imperial ambitions led to the collapse of a powerful commercial and military superpower.

Sound familiar?

Former Secretary of State George Marshall once said that in order for a man to "think with full wisdom and with deep convictions regarding certain of the basic issues today" he should read Thucydides' The Peloponnesian War.

At this point, I'd settle for a President who'd read a book. Any book. Ever.

"My Pet Goat" doesn't count.
